A delicious and wholesome dish that combines the nutritious organic Masoor Dal with rich spices and a perfect balance of flavors.
🌾 1 cup Organic Masoor Dal Malka (split red lentils)
🧄 2 cloves garlic (minced)
🧅 1 onion (chopped)
🍅 2 tomatoes (pureed)
🧈 1 tbsp ghee or oil
🌶️ 1 tsp cumin seeds
🧂 Salt to taste
🌿 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
🌶️ 1 tsp turmeric powder
🌶️ 1 tsp red chili powder
🌿 1 tsp garam masala
🍋 1 tsp lemon juice
🌱 Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
💧 4 cups water (for cooking)
🍛 Rice or roti (for serving)
Prepare Dal: Wash the organic Masoor Dal thoroughly under cold water.
Cook the Dal: In a pressure cooker, add the dal and 4 cups of water. Cook for about 4-5 whistles or until soft. You can also cook it in a regular pot, but it will take longer.
Tempering: In a separate pan, heat ghee or oil. Add cumin seeds, minced garlic, and chopped onions. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
Add Spices: Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes until the spices release their aroma.
Tomatoes: Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
Combine Dal and Masala: Add the cooked dal to the tempering mixture. Stir well, add salt to taste, and simmer for 5-7 minutes for the flavors to blend together.
Finish: Stir in garam masala and lemon juice. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve: Serve hot with rice or roti for a complete meal.
